Post separation services

Family Life provides support for families, post separation, through Children’s Contact Services (CCS) and the Parenting Orders Programs (POP).

Children’s Contact Services

Referrals for CCS can be made through the Family Court, or by other professionals. Families may also self-refer. The service provides supervised time and/or supervised changeover between children and their spend-time with parent or significant other in a safe and child focused environment.

Parenting Orders Program

POP practitioners work in an integrated manner with Children’s Contact Services to support separated families to reduce conflict, improve their post-separation parenting and remain focused on the best interests of their children.

The program is designed specifically for families involved in Family Law Court proceedings and these families may be Court ordered to attend. However all separated families who are dealing with complex issues around their co-parenting and the time their child spends with each parent can also apply. The POP is a child inclusive program, to ensure that the child’s voice is heard throughout the process and works with the understanding that every child has a right to feel safe and secure and to have a relationship with both parents.

The program includes the post separation parenting group (Stand by Me), post separation counselling for parents and children, and THRIVE, a therapeutic group for children.

The service operates from Sandringham, Frankston and Cranbourne and in partnership with Ringwood Family Relationships Centre, based at the Eastern Access Community Health (EACH).

Separated Parents (Families)

A support group is available for separated parents. The group offers an opportunity for separated parents to meet with other people who are in a similar situation, for companionship and the opportunity to discuss issues relating to parenting, the effects of separation and to develop strategies for moving forward in a positive manner. The group runs each term for two hours a week over six weeks.
