Our RAP Journey
We are proud to present our first Reconciliation Action Plan.
Embarking on our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) journey is a deeply significant step for us, reflecting our commitment to fostering reconciliation and driving positive change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and our entire community. Our vision is to create Capable Communities, Strong Families, and Thriving Children, and this journey is integral to achieving that goal.
In 2023, Family Life established a formal RAP Working Group, comprising dedicated staff from various teams across the organisation. The group’s role is to progress the RAP by working closely with other staff members, the leadership team, the Board of Directors, and external partners and stakeholders.
Our RAP provides a framework for strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, partners, and communities, with the aim of achieving progress through collaboration. It reflects our unwavering commitment to the families we support and our dedication to creating inclusive and respectful communities that honour and celebrate the rich cultures and deep connections to country of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Our RAP Artwork
Kaptify Bunurong Art and artist, Adam Magennis, has been integral to our Reconciliation Action Plan journey from the start. Adam is a Bunurong artist, with a 30 year career producing art pieces including commissions for public art installations, murals and sculptural work. Our RAP working group and Family Life Executive Directors spent time with Adam on Country in Shoreham, Mornington Peninsula, where we learned about land stewardship and created our own artwork.
