Family Life’s Talk4Change Pilot Program is facilitated by a team of Family Violence Specialist Practitioners, which aims to provide a tailored individualised approach to Men’s Behaviour Change that combines both group based and individual therapeutic sessions for men who use violence, in a supportive, understanding, and helpful environment.

Is the program for me?

Have you used or are you at risk of using Family Violence? Family Violence is not just physical violence and comes in many forms. If you are struggling with any of the following challenges, it might just be time for you to seek support to make changes:

Are you:

  • A man aged 18 years of older
  • Struggling to maintain healthy relationships?
  • Parenting in a way that doesn’t match your values?
  • Having trouble managing your mood, including feelings of anger and frustration?
  • Wanting to feel happier and more connected with others?
  • Wanting to enhance your tool kit to better understand yourself and others?
  • Facing legal consequences as a result of your choices?

Healthy relationships with ourselves and others are essential to our overall positive well-being.  At Family Life, we are here to support you on your journey, towards lasting and sustainable change.

How does the program work?

Talk4Change is a free and voluntary program that goes beyond the standard men’s behaviour change programs by offering personalised one-on-one therapeutic interventions alongside group engagement.

Talk4Change aims to assist men in understanding themselves better, identifying unhelpful attitudes and beliefs that support the use of Family Violence and exploring impacts of Family Violence on women and children and the broader community.

All participants will undergo an assessment to determine suitability for this program.

Participants are required to engage in 10 x 2 hour weekly group based sessions, alongside 10 x 1 hour Individual Therapeutic sessions, that will run concurrently in order to complete the program.

Upon completion, participants will be provided with a certificate of completion.

What will I learn?

Be part of a supportive environment where facilitators work with you on your journey towards change. Our program includes both group sessions and regular one-on-one interventions to help you:

  • Improve your relationships
  • Enhance your parenting skills
  • Manage your moods better
  • Feel happier and more connected in your relationship
  • Learn the tools and strategies to better understand yourself and your emotions
  • Have the opportunity to share your journey and experiences with others
